Berry Polished: Blogger Bio Series

Amanda over at Berrypolished.com was nice enough to include me in her Blogger bio series!  Thank you BerryPolished for this opportunity!  Please be sure to fan her Facebook page and check out her blog.  I really love her freehand nail art designs.  I wish I had more patience and the correct supplies to do freehand stuff.

Here is the interview just in case you missed it on her blog:

NOTD: Zoya Moxie + Rainbow Connection

I picked out Zoya's Moxie from their Valentine's Day promo.  Sad to say, it's not that a color that goes well for me.

Mardi Gras Inspired Nails

I asked my fans on my Facebook page for any nail art suggestions and one person said Mardi Gras.  It's Mardi Gras this week so why not?  Looking at the images of Mardi Gras there's a lot of boobs booze beads, masquerade masks, sequins, argyle patterns, and purple, green and gold.

Sinful Colors Dream On is the perfect Mardi Gras purple, a neon fuchsia. It's a teeny bit more red in real life.  My camera likes to spaz out trying to capture bright colors.  If you are a fan of purple, definitely pick up this gem at your local drugstore for $2.

Nails Inc. Warwick Way + some really color inaccurate photos

I picked up Nails Inc. Warwick Way. It's a nearly neon teal creme that was rather camera shy and would not photograph accurately despite my best efforts.

In low light. It's a tinge more green.

Nope not blue either. It's a near neon teal in the sun.

Here you can maybe see a hint of green?

This was 3-coats with top coat though it did not need a top coat.  It dried to a really high gloss shine.  In the sun it's really vibrant, more green! Sorry it wouldn't photograph.  The application was a little streaky and uneven.  That's why it needed 3-coats.

The brush is similar to the Essie brush, thin, flip floppy.  I could not get a good bead to apply evenly which might annoy most people.

Overall, if you are a fan of teals, definitely pick this up! You have to see it in person!

Haterz gonna Hate...Hello Kitty Nails...

I posted these to my FB page and got my first legitimate troll hater comments!  Luckily, my fans stepped in to help stamp out the hate! Thank you!

Again I would like to state my policy, if you do not like what I have to offer, there's an "X" at the corner of your browser, click it and that should resolve your problem.  Don't let me waste your time by making you read something you hate. ???

That aside, here's my Valentine's day Hello Kitty Nails.  Well not your typical Valentine's Day.  I just wanted something girly.  I ran out of rose decals to make them more Valentines-like.

Ms. Lizard's Untrieds: China Glaze Peace on Earth + OPI promo picts

Cosmetic Sanctuary was nice enough to clue me in on the latest OPI release this coming May called The Amazing Spiderman Collection.  It includes a murky green duochrome shade called "Just Spotted the Lizard."  She thought of me, how sweet!

NOTD: China Glaze Magnetix Instant Chemistry

I picked up China Glaze Magnetix Instant Chemistry as well as the magnet despite the mixed reviews.  I decided on Instant Chemistry because the other colors in this collection looked similar to the Claire's/Icing ones I purchased earlier.

Claire's Magnetix plus testing out the China Glaze Magnet

Last week, I picked up some of the Claire's Magnetix polishes.  These are identical to the Icing Magnetix I swatched earlier with the exception of the Claire's silver.  It's more of a bright silver foil than the Icing equivalent.

How to apply a silk wrap tutorial

Last week, I dinged my nail pretty bad and got a crack on my index finger.  Eeek! I didn't want to take down length so I buffed the crack out but it left me with a weak spot in my nail. Eeeek 2x!

I decided to reinforce it with a silk wrap and gel resin while it grows out versus taking down length completely and having uneven nails!  Overall, silk or fiber glass wraps are great for strengthening thin weak nails or helping repair a broken damaged nail.

Basic Supplies: Swiss Silk Wraps or Fiberglass Wraps. IBD Gel Resin, ASP Nail dehydrator and 4-sided buffer.  Silk wraps give a more natural look while fiberglass wraps are more durable but show fibers more easily.  I've used both and both work great.  You don't have to get these exact brands.  All of these products can be found at Sally Beauty Supply or any nail supply retailer.

Optional:

Hurry Up! Nail Glue Dryer. Spray this on your last coat to instantly dry your resin. Spray outdoors because it is rather fumey. Wipe your nail with rubbing alcohol afterward.

LacquerMan's Valentines Day COUPLES Nails Photo Contest!

I discovered the Lacquer Man through Berry Polished Bio Series on her blog. Please click here to read.

He posted a Valentine's Day couples nail art contest where you and your significant other had to display nailart on all 10 fingers to best express your feelings for one another.  I asked Mr. Lizard and he agreed!  I let him choose the colors and design.  He chose a lizard green for my namesake.

It's 2-coats of Maybelline Go Go Green.  The oldest polish in my stash! He wanted gold stars. If you can see them.  Mr. Lizard had enough patience for only 2 photos.  His index finger is Nubar Reclaim.  The stars are from BundleMonster set 1.

That scar is from when he worked as a butcher. I have scars too! If we didn't have scars then we wouldn't have a story to tell!

Well I'll probably won't get another opportunity to paint Mr. Lizard's nails.  It was nice to talk about possible designs.  He really wanted Badtz Maru nails.

If you can convince your boyfriend, fiance or husband to let you paint his nails, you can enter the contest at Lacquer Man's Facebook page.  Contest ends 2/14/12.  I posted my entry, you can vote for it under "view entries."

Thanks for reading!

Essie We Can Do It Pink: Office Appropriate color

Last week, I was sent out on my first business trip for my company.  I didn't have time to do the basic french manicure so I pulled out Essie's We Can Do It Pink.  It was their Breast Cancer Awareness color from 2010.  I found it in a sale bin for half off.   It's a color I wear fairly often.  Like most polish addicts, I rarely wear a color more than once.

Glamour Saturdays: EOTD

Okay here's my first attempt at taking EOTD (eye of the day) picts. So please be kind. Glamour Saturdays are my day where I bust out my makeup palettes and brushes and I do a fancy EOTD. Here's me trying to take a picture of my eyeball.

Products used:

UD Primer Potion
E/S: BH Cosmetics 88 Matte Standard Palette in purple and red
Eyeliner: Black glitter from Victoria's Secret
Lower lash line: Sephora white eyeliner
Mascara: UD Big  Fatty Mascara

On a sad side note: I lost my Mac 210 eyeliner brush.  I bought an eyeliner brush from Sephora as a replacement. It's not that great. It's flip floppy and doesn't make a great line. I wish I plunked down an extra $10 to buy the Mac brush.  Accept no substitutes!
